Cohen joins the men's tennis program as assistant coach.
Middlebury has announced the hiring of Jake Cohen as the assistant men's tennis coach. Cohen joins the program after playing for the Colby College men's tennis team for the past four seasons.
"We are thrilled to welcome Jake to our Middlebury Tennis family," said head coach Andrew Thomson. "His impressive playing background, enthusiasm and commitment for improvement, as well as his passion for the game, will add immensely to our team culture."
"I am beyond excited to join the Middlebury family," said Cohen. "As a NESCAC player, I was always impressed with the athletic excellence and genuine sportsmanship displayed by my Middlebury opponents. I am thrilled to help the Panthers grow and reach their full potential both on and off the court."
Cohen has offered personal tennis lessons since 2021, creating personalized plans to enhance both technical and mental aspects, as well as client-specific techniques to help players achieve notable improvements. He also served as an intern for TOCA Football in the Summer of 2024. In the role, Cohen facilitated testing to improve the accuracy of data analytics and enhance player performance.
Cohen graduated from Colby College in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government and history. A four-year member of the Mules men's tennis team, Cohen was a three-time all-conference selection, including first-team honors in singles and doubles during his senior year. He earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) National Most Improved Player Award and the NESCAC's Clarence Chaffee Sportsmanship Award. Academically, Cohen earned ITA Scholar-Athlete four times and was a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District and NESCAC All-Academic honoree twice.
