Ahonen becomes the second Panther in three years to be named a semifinalist.
Middlebury wide receiver Mike Ahonen has been named one of 177 semifinalists across all NCAA three divisions and the NAIA for the 2025 National Football Foundation's (NFF) William V. Campbell Trophy.
AHONEN'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- During the first two games this season, Ahonen has hauled in 11 receptions for 184 yards. His total yards and 92.0 yards per contest rank him third in the NESCAC.
- Ahonen was named a second-team all-conference offense selection a season ago and is a NESCAC All-Academic honoree.
- He is majoring in international politics and economics/italian at Middlebury with a 3.57 GPA.
- A year ago, Ahonen finished second on the squad in receptions (37) and touchdowns (four).
ABOUT THE AWARD
- The award is presented to the player who has shown outstanding ability on the field and demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship, all while maintaining a grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher.
- This year's list of candidates boasts an impressive 3.60 combined GPA. Ahonen is one of two NESCAC nominees and among a list of 33 student-athletes at the Division III level.
- The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on October 22. Each finalist will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2025 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments.
- The 177 semifinalists include 111 captains and 94 all-conference selections.
