Kevin Woodring ‘20 Joins Football Staff As An Assistant Coach

Wooding joins the program after serving in a similar role at Sacred Heart.

Middlebury has announced the hiring of Kevin Woodring '20 as an assistant football coach. Woodring joins the Panthers after serving in a similar role working with the tight ends at Sacred Heart University for the last two seasons.

"We are so excited to have Kevin back at Middlebury," said Michael G. Heinecken Head Coach of Football Doug Mandigo '96. "He is one of the best players in the history of Middlebury football and will now be a tremendous part of our coaching staff. Kevin brings passion to the game of football and our program. His football intellect and work ethic will be a critical addition to our program."

"I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to come back to Middlebury as a coach," said Woodring. "It is an honor and a privilege to return to the program that has meant so much to me. I am grateful for Coach Mandigo and the entire football staff for giving me the opportunity, and I look forward to working with the players and can't wait to get started."

During his two years with the Pioneers, Woodring helped guide the program to multiple victories, including the Yankee Conference Championship last fall. Alongside his duties as tight ends coach, he helped coordinate and manage meetings, breaking down and labeling scouting reports and creating pass protection and run game schemes. Woodring also served as the junior varsity program's offensive coordinator.

Before heading to Connecticut, he spent two years as a graduate assistant and defensive line coach at Springfield College, where he earned his Master of Physical Education degree. Woodring helped lead the Pride to a pair of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) league titles, a 16-7 record and two berths in the NCAA Tournament. He was the scout team and assistant academic coordinator while also holding game-day responsibilities.

Woodring graduated from Middlebury in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and a minor in mathematics. He was a standout player on the Panther football and baseball programs. Woodring was a three-time All-NESCAC honoree as an offensive lineman and served as a team captain on the 2019 conference championship team, which posted the first 9-0 mark in program history. Woodring also excelled in the classroom as a three-time NESCAC All-Academic selection and CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District recipient.
