2025 Volleyball Season Preview

The Panthers celebrate a point during the NCAA Tournament last season.

The 24th-ranked Middlebury volleyball team begins its 2025 season on Wednesday, September 3, with a road match at Vermont State University Castleton. The Panthers pursue a third-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth after claiming the program’s sixth NESCAC Title a year ago with its first regional final appearance since 2011.

Middlebury returns the conference’s top offensive option in Molly Harrison, who led her peers in kills (428) and kills per set (3.82). The 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American also ranked second on the team and fourth in the conference with 402 digs in 2024. Lillian Caldwell had a career-high 126 kills a season ago and will provide leadership after being named one of the team's captains.

Ava Tuccio patrols the middle after leading the unit in hitting percentage (.273) and finishing second on the team in kills (232), kills per set (2.07), total blocks (91) and blocks per set (0.81). Joining her is Gabby Pribisich, who paced the program and concluded the year third in the conference with 31 solo and 94 total blocks over 109 sets played.

At the service line, Campbell Keller posted a team-best 43 service aces and appeared in all 112 sets last fall. Annabella Rando, who earned NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, paced the conference with 465 digs and ranked second in digs per set (4.51). Campbell Bartley will battle for playing time as the squad’s starting setter. Lauren Baxter and Devin McCormack look to contribute to a hitting unit that finished second in the league with 1,374 kills. Baxter posted a career-best 161 kills across 79 sets, while McCormack had 141 successful attacks. The squad also welcomes four first-year players in 2025.

We have excellent experience and leadership with our senior captains, consisting of Ava, Lillian and Campbell Keller. Our sophomore and junior classes bring back a lot of skill and personality. We will be adding a strong and balanced group of new players to our family, so it will be fun to see this group come together. I’m eager to see us build on the cohesion and chemistry we had last year.
Head Coach Sarah Raunecker '92

Raunecker enters her 31st season at the helm, boasting a 518-279 record and finishing .500 or better in 16-straight seasons. Assistant coach Brian Dunlop enters his 23rd campaign alongside Raunecker in 2025.
