Three members of the #3 Middlebury women's tennis team have been selected to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships.
Nina Farhat and
Sahana Raman will team up in doubles action, while Raman and
Elsie Van Wieren are set to compete in the 32-person singles bracket. The championship begins on the heels of the team tournament, with competition taking place May 24-27 at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
- Raman is making her third appearance in the NCAA Individual Tournament, and the first in doubles. She has advanced to the quarterfinal round in each of her last two seasons. In 2022, Raman was the ITA Runner-up in the fall championship event. The captain is ranked #5 in singles action and owns an 83-29 career mark, which is believed to be the most wins by any player at Middlebury. The Panther was recently named the NESCAC Player of the Year, as well as earning a spot on the conference's first team.
- Farthat and Raman are the top-ranked tandem in Division III and were tabbed to the All-NESCAC First Team. The duo owns an impressive 25-3 mark while playing at #1 this year. Heading into the team playoffs, the pair has claimed eight of its last nine matches and boasts a 15-2 mark in dual competition this spring.
- Van Wieren has had a standout rookie campaign, being lauded as the conference's rookie of the year in addition to earning first-team laurels. The Panther is second on the squad with 22 wins (22-5), playing a majority of action at #2 singles. She is ranked 22nd in the country heading into tournament play.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
- The singles title is up for grabs this year as Rena Lin of the University of Chicago (UChicago) graduated.
- Babson's Matia Christiani and Olivia Soffer claimed the 2024 doubles title and have qualified in tandem and singles action for this spring. As a pair, the duo is ranked #4 in the country with a 19-2 mark, while each is inside the top-10 spots individually.Â
- The Washington University St. Louis (WashU) pair of Eleanor Archer and Caitlyn Bui boasts a 23-4 record and enters the bracket as the fourth-ranked duo. Both Bears earned spots in the singles bracket, with Bui securing a #11 ranking.Â
- NESCAC foe Wesleyan also has three selections in the bracket. Lane Durkin will play in singles and doubles action, partnering with Sarah Youngberg in tandem play. Durkin is ranked #6 and the pair is seventh. Joining the Cardinals in the individual tournament, #2 Jacqueline Soloveyick who boasts a 25-5 record.Â
- Other notable competitors include top-ranked Emily Kantrovitz of Emory (21-3), #3 Angie Zhou of Pomona-Pitzer (15-3) who will also play in doubles with partner Marissa Markey, and the third-ranked duo of Sylwia and Oliwia Mikos of UChicago.Â
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The Panthers begin NCAA Team Championship action on Saturday, May 10 in the second round at home.
