Women’s Tennis Duo Caps Season With Runner-Up Finish At NCAA Championships

Box Score The Middlebury women's tennis doubles team of Nina Farhat and Sahana Raman concluded a tremendous season with a runner-up finish during the NCAA Individual Championships in Claremont, California.  
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panther tandem, who earned the top seed in the bracket, squared off against Matia Cristiani and Olivia Soffer from Babson. The Beaver duo raced out to an early lead and secured a 6-2 win in the opening set.
  • The third-seeded Babson pair followed that effort in the second, easing to a triumph by identical scores of 6-2 and 6-2. 
NOTES
  • Farhat and Raman defeated Karina Elvestrom and Kaya De Bruijn of Gustavus Adolphus College in the round of 16 (6-2, 6-3), before edging Izabele Antanavicius and Iris Berman from Emory by a 7-6 (1), 6-3 triumph in the quarterfinals. 
  • In Monday's semifinals, the Panther tandem squared off with Pomona-Pitzer's Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey, earning a spot in the championship match with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph.
  • The Panther tandem secured wins in 20 of its 23 matches to close the season.
  • Raman finished with a career doubles record of 99-30, while Farhat concluded her time in the blue and white uniform with a 72-16 mark.
The Middlebury duo closes the year with a record of 30-4, including winning streaks of 17 and eight, respectively.
