Sahana Raman of the fifth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team earned a spot in the doubles championship match behind a straight-set semifinal win at the NCAA Individual Championships in Claremont, California.
SEMIFINALS HIGHLIGHTS
- The top-seeded Panther tandem squared off against the duo of Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey from Pomona-Pitzer in Monday's semifinal. Farhat and Raman secured the opener by a 6-2 score.
- In the second set, the #4 seed Sagehen pair moved out to a 4-3 edge. The Middlebury team battled back to take a 6-5 lead before Farhat held serve to send the Panthers to a 6-2, 7-5 triumph.
NOTES
- The Panther tandem has claimed a victory in 20 of its last 22 matches.
Farhat and Raman punch their ticket in the NCAA Championship match where they will square off with Babson's Matia Cristiani and Olivia Soffer. The title bout is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. eastern. The two sides met during Middlebury's spring break trip on March 19 with the Panther tandem blanking the Beaver duo 6-0.
