LABER'S HIGHLIGHTS
- In his opening-round competition against the University of Chicago's Alexander Ekstrand, the Panther won the opening set 6-2 before the Maroon leveled the match at a set apiece with a 6-3 triumph. Laber advanced to the round of 16Â with a 6-2 triumph in the third frame.
- The Panther posted identical scores of 6-4 in a straight-set win over third-seeded Vuk Vuksanovic from Tufts in his second-round match on Friday.
- On Saturday in the quarterfinals, Laber went the distance with Chakor Sankaran Rajendra from Johns Hopkins, as he punched his ticket to the semifinals with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 victory.Â
LABER & WIJEMANNE HIGHLIGHTS
- Squaring off against the tandem from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) consisting of Josh Kim and Advik Mareedu in the round of 16, the Stag pair won the initial set 6-2 before securing a 6-4 triumph.
NOTES
- Laber improved to an impressive 64-25 in a Middlebury uniform, including a 25-6 mark this season.
- The meeting between Vuksanovic and Laber was the third this year with the Jumbo winning each of the previous two. The showdown between Laber and Sankaran Rajendra was the second this spring, as the pair squared off in the NCAA Regional final with the Panther ahead 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 5-2 before the match went unfinished. The contest featuring Ekstrand and Laber was the first.
- Laber and Wijemanne finished their season as a pair with a 17-4 record in the top spot of the Middlebury lineup. The contest was the second time the tandem played the CMS duo this season with the Panther pair winning 6-3 during Middlebury's spring trip.
Laber will battle top-seeded Mareedu in the singles' semifinal round on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. eastern.Â
