Neel Epstein, Hugh Hentschel, Noah Laber and Thehan Wijemanne of the #7 Middlebury men's tennis team have been tabbed College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees.
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
- Epstein
- Epstein earns the accolade for the second-consecutive campaign.
- The Panther is a molecular biology and biochemistry major.
- In doubles, Epstein tallied an 11-8 mark with five victories coming from the second slot.
- The Panther played primarily at #3 singles throughout the spring, amassing a 13-6 record and concluded his career with 77 total career victories.
- Hentschel
- An economics major, Hentschel tallies his initial academic all-district accolade.
- Throughout the season, the junior earned 21 total doubles victories and 14 in dual competition from the second slot.
- The Panther tallied 10 triumphs throughout the spring, including nine at #5.
- Laber
- Laber secures his third-straight nod from the organization.
- The economics major excelled in doubles action, earning All-NESCAC First Team honors alongside Wijemanne. Middlebury's top duo claimed a squad-best 15 victories in the spring and was selected to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships.
- As the team's top player in singles, Laber secured a spot in the NCAA Individual Championships and all-conference first-team distinction for the second time. The Panther has 22 solo victories and 10 from the #1 slot.
- Wijemanne
- Double majoring in mathematics and economics, Wijemanne tallies his first academic all-district honor.
- The sophomore tallied his initial All-NESCAC award in doubles alongside Laber, amassing a 17-3 mark over the season. The pair also has a seven-match winning streak and has been selected to participate in the NCAA Individual Championships.
- Wijemanne has excelled in singles, winning a team-high 24 matches over the fall and spring seasons. The Panther posted a 17-4 record in the spring and recently tallied his 30th career victory.Â
