Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season At Trinity/Hartford Invitational

The Middlebury men's golf team returned to the links this weekend to start its spring season. The Panthers placed 12th out of 16 teams at the Trinity/Hartford Spring Invitational. Amherst won the event with a two-day score of 592, followed by the host Bantams (600), Hamilton (604) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (604). Middlebury finished with a combined score of 631.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Brendan Maykel was among eight golfers to place in a tie for 19th. The Panther bested his initial round (80) by seven strokes on Sunday to finish with a 153. He tallied four birdies in the final round, including three on the back nine.
  • Shooting rounds of 80 and 78 was Charlie Schulman, who finished in 43rd place alongside six other competitors. 
  • Paul Fine-Lease fired identical scores of 80 for a share of 51st.
  • Rounding out the squad for Middlebury was Justin Belland (161) and Logan Wang (162). Belland posted two birdies in his opening round, while Wang matched that output on Sunday. 
The Panthers return to competition on Saturday and Sunday when they play in the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore.
