Lee Claims Williams Spring Invitational As Women’s Golf Finishes Third

Duffy recorded personal best single and combined rounds.
The Middlebury women's golf team finished third out of 10 teams at the Williams Spring Invitational to close out the regular season, with Morgan Lee claiming the medalist honors. The Ephs and Wellesley each recorded a score of 618, but the host claimed the crown in a tiebreaker. The Panthers moved up one spot from Saturday, combining for a 628.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lee shot a two-over-73 on each day to take home the title with a score of 146. The Panther tallied five birdies and an eagle to finish four strokes ahead of runner-up Aileen Du of Wellesley
  • Teegan Duffy and Audrey Tir were among eight competitors to finish in a tie for 18th, carding identical scores (78-82-160) over the two-day event.
  • Next for Middlebury was Ella Han, tying for 31st with a 162. The Panther carded an 80 in the opening round.
  • Rounding out the scorers was Mia Politano, shooting a combined 163 (80-83) to place 35th with two other golfers. 
NOTES
  • Competing as an individual, Elizabeth Whalen tied for 26th with a 161 (79-82).
  • Duffy's 78 and combined score of 160 were both career lows, marking the second-straight week the Panther has lowered her personal bests. 
Middlebury begins its quest for a NESCAC Title when the three-day championship starts on Friday, May 2.
