Four members of the women's swimming and diving team earned the honor.
Four members of the #22 Middlebury women's swimming and diving team have been lauded with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades.
Hannah Baumgartner,
Emma Hall,
Chloe Katz and
Maddy Reid earned recognition by the organization.
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
- Baumgartner
- Baumgartner is an economics and sociology double major and lands a spot on the all-district team for the first time.
- The junior competed in her first NCAA Championships in March. She was a member of the 200 (22nd), 400 (20th) and 800 (19th) freestyle relays.
- She swam a leg on the school-record-setting 800 free relay that posted a fourth-place time of 7:30.31 during the NESCAC Championships.
- Baumgartner tallied individual wins in the 200 free against Connecticut College and Bates, while claiming the 500 free at the Middlebury Invitational.
- She has also made the NESCAC All-Academic list each of the last two years.
- Hall
- Earning the accolade for the initial time is Hall who is a neuroscience major.
- A breaststroke specialist, she competed in her first NCAA Championships as a part of the 400 medley relay.
- Hall swam a leg in the 200 (fourth) and the 400 (fifth) medley relays at the NESCAC Championships.
- The junior also earned a spot on the NESCAC All-Academic list for the second time.
- Katz
- This marks the second time Katz has garnered all-district praise.
- The economics and computer science double major was the first Panther in program history to be named a CSC Academic All-America honoree with a third-team nod a year ago.
- Katz secured nine individual dual-meet victories, mainly in the distance freestyle events, and swam the opening leg of the squad's program-record time of 7:30.31 in the 800-yard freestyle relay at the NESCAC Championship.
- She tallied All-NESCAC laurels in the 1,000 free for the third time in her career, touching the wall in third place.
- Katz was selected to compete in a pair of individual events in this year's NCAA Championships (500 free and 1,650 free), as well as swimming a leg in the 800 free relay.
- She is a three-time NESCAC All-Academic recipient and a four-time College Scholar.
- Reid
- Reid earns a CSC All-District award for the first time.
- The sociology major is a three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree and was a NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team recipient a season ago.
- She garnered All-NESCAC accolades this year with her runner-up effort in the 50-yard backstroke (26.20).
- The Panther tallied a pair of individual breaststroke wins in the 50 against Colby and the 100 in the season opener versus Connecticut College.
- Reid competed in her first NCAA Championships, swimming a leg in the 200 (19th) and 400 (19th) medley relays.
The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced on Tuesday, April 22.
