Two members of the men's swimming and diving team garnered the accolade.
Two members of the Middlebury men's swimming and diving team have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades.
Luke McNamara and
Paul Shen garnered praise from the organization.
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
- McNamara
- McNamara is an economics major and lands a spot on the all-district team for the first time.
- The junior broke a pair of school records when the Panthers hosted the NESCAC Championships. He lowered the program mark in the 200-yard individual medley (1:50.31) and the 400 individual medley (3:58.47). The previous records were each achieved in the late 1990s.
- McNamara was named the program's NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team recipient this winter.
- He has also earned a place on the NESCAC All-Academic list in each of the last two years.
- Shen
- Securing the accolade for the initial time is Shen who is a physics and mathematics double major.
- A breaststroke specialist, he swam a leg in the 200 medley relay that broke the school record (1:30.77) during the NESCAC Championships.
- Shen lowered the program mark in the 200 breaststroke (1:59.89) at the league championship.
- He touched the wall first during four individual events this season, claiming the 50 and the 100 breaststroke titles in the tri-meet with Williams and Hamilton, as well as during the Middlebury Invitational.
- The junior also earned a spot on the NESCAC All-Academic list for the second time.
The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, April 23.
