Skiing Finishes Sixth At NCAA Championships

Jack Christner capped his career in the freestyle.
The Middlebury ski teams finished in sixth place with 252.5 points at the NCAA Championships. The four-day event was highlighted by All-American laurels from Bradshaw Underhill (fourth in GS, sixth in slalom), Logan Moore (fifth in freestyle) and Shea Brams (ninth in freestyle).
 
Utah claimed its fifth national title in the last six years with 590 points, while Colorado was second (513 points) and host Dartmouth finished third (508 points).
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Competing in his final event wearing the navy and white, Moore left it all out on the 20K freestyle course. The Panther crossed the line in fifth place in the mass start, clocking in at 45:48.9.
  • Mason Wheeler was next for Middlebury, finishing in 26th with a time of 48:35.4.
  • Rounding out the men's side was Jack Christner who completed the course in 50:33.7 to grab 35th. 
  • Brams paced the women with a ninth-place finish, stopping the clock in 51:46.1.
  • Maggie Wagner recorded a time of 54:44.4 to claim 23rd, while Sofia Scirica came in 27th place (55:47.2). 
NOTES
  • Moore's finish is the best for a men's nordic skier in the last decade.
  • The men's alpine team tallied the most event points with the giant slalom (49 points), while the women's nordic squad was second for the Panthers with 48 points in the classic.
  • This marked Middlebury's 65th appearance on the national stage, having competed every year since 1967.
  • The Panthers have placed in the top-10 spots six consecutive seasons and 58 overall. 
Middlebury concludes the season having placed in the top-six spots in every competition, including runner-up finishes at two carnivals in the East.
