#6 Men’s Tennis Rolls Past Hamilton 7-0

The #6 Middlebury men's tennis team claimed a tiebreaker in the third doubles match, moving ahead and never looked back en route to a 7-0 victory over Hamilton. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury's Noah Lewis and Julian Wu cruised to a 6-3 victory at #3 to begin doubles action.
  • The Continental tandem of Anson Anderson and Tarun Korwar edged Neel Epstein and Noah Laber at #1 to force a deciding third match in the second spot.
  • Knotted at 6-6, Hugh Hentschel and Thehan Wijemanne secured  a 7-5 score in the tiebreaker for the 7-6 triumph to push the Panthers to a 1-0 lead.
  • Fresh out for singles action, Reif Larsen claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win in the fifth spot.
  • At the top of the lineup, Wu dropped just three games (6-1, 6-2) to give Middlebury a 3-0 advantage.
  • Nikky Kondamuri secured a straight-set triumph at #6 (6-4, 6-3), before Laber clinched the contest with a thrilling win (7-5, 4-6, 6-2) in the second slot.
  • In the fourth spot, Wijemanne earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory to extend the lead to 6-0.
  • The final point came with a come-from-behind win by Epstein. The Panther fell 6-3 in the opener, before clawing his way back for a 7-5 win in the second. The third session was decided via a superbreak, with Epstein winning 10-7. 
NOTES
  • The programs played for the 16th time with Middlebury winning each matchup.
The Panthers have a quick turnaround, hosting #13 Amherst on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
