Five members of the #22 Middlebury women's swimming and diving team competed on the second day of the NCAA Championships. The four-day event is being contested at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Chloe Katz swam in the second of her individual events to kick off the morning preliminary session. She touched the wall with a 29th-place time of 4:34.28 in the 400-yard individual medley.
- A few events later, the 200 freestyle relay quartet of Anna McGrew, Chloe Bautista, Lauren Jolley and Hannah Baumgartner raced to 22nd place with a clocking of 1:34.98. That mark bettered their seed time by 1.55 seconds, narrowly missing the school record of 1:34.53.
NOTES
- McGrew took part in her third event of the championships, lowering the program's record in the 50 free (23.08) on Wednesday to finish 10th and garner All-American status. She also swam a leg on the 400 medley relay.
- Bautista was a part of the 400 medley team, while Jolley and Baumgartner participated for the first time.
Middlebury returns to action on Friday morning when it swims in the 200 free and 800 free relays, while McGrew looks for a title in the 100 backstroke. The session is slated to kick off at 10:00 a.m.
