Lindsey Burnham tallied a five-game triumph at the top of the ladder.
The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team closed its season with a 6-3 loss to #14 Williams in the Kurtz Cup Consolation match at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead with Aanvi Anand winning by forfeit in the fourth slot.
- After the Ephs tallied a five-game win at #9, Sabrina Schwarz answered with a victory over Sophia Koehler (11-9, 11-13, 11-4, 15-13) in the third slot to push Middlebury ahead by one (2-1).
- Williams earned consecutive sweeps in the seventh and fifth slots to take a 3-2 edge.
- At the top of the ladder, Lindsey Burnham and Melanie Wang went the distance. Both players split the first four, before Burnham shut the door with an 11-5 victory in the final game to knot the score at 3-3.
- The Ephs closed the match with 3-0 wins at #8, #6 and #2, respectively, for the 6-3 triumph.
NOTES
- Schwarz tied the team lead with her 11th triumph of the season.
- Burnham now has 24 victories in a Panther uniform.
- Middlebury and Williams met for the third time this season and 64th overall.
The Panthers finish their campaign at 10-10 overall, clinching its third-consecutive season with double-digit victories.
