#19 Men’s Squash Wraps Up Season At CSA Championships

Ballo won his final match as a Panther.
The #19/seventh-seeded Middlebury men's squash team dropped a tight 5-4 decision to #16/fourth-seeded Colby in the Hoehn Cup of the CSA Championships. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • David Zhao grabbed the first point of the day with a straight-game sweep (11-4, 11-4, 11-6) in the ninth slot.
  • Colby responded with a shutout of its own at #4.
  • The Panthers took a 2-1 edge with a 3-0 win by Gabe Feinstein in the third slot. 
  • Knotted 1-1 at the top of the ladder, Mule Inwoo Lee claimed two-straight games, before Carlos Zendejas edged Theo Kogan in a five-game thriller at #5. Colby gained some breathing room, coming away with a 4-1 win in the second spot for a 4-2 lead.
  • Middlebury wouldn't go away, as Charlie Clifford came from behind 2-0 to top his opponent in the sixth slot and cut the deficit to one (4-3).
  • Deadlocked at 2-2 in the seventh spot, Colby's Sebastien Campos was able to secure the final game (12-10) to clinch the match for the Mules.
  • Alexis Ballo secured the final point of the contest, winning two-straight games for a 3-2 win. 
NOTES
  • Zhao claimed his 20th career win.
  • This marked the third-straight 5-4 triumph for Colby over the Panthers this season.
  • The programs met for the 22nd time overall with Middlebury holding a 15-7 advantage in the all-time series.
The Panthers finished fourth overall in the Hoehn Cup, while the Mules earned third place.
