#8 Middlebury Starts Spring Break With Shutout At #22 Redlands

Anna Lardner claimed a straight-set win in singles action.
Box Score The #8 Middlebury women's tennis team started its spring break with a 7-0 shutout at #22 Redlands on Sunday. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The duo of Claudia Miller and Elsie Van Wieren raced out to a 6-1 win in the second spot, before the top tandem of Nina Farhat and Sahana Raman triumphed by the same score to secure the doubles point.
  • Nathalie van der Reis and Lulu Wu edged their opponents 6-4 at #3 to close out the tandem portion of play.
  • Raman picked up where she left off, claiming both sets by 6-1 scores at #1 singles to double the Panther advantage.
  • In the fourth slot, van der Reis won 6-3, 6-1 before Van Wieran clinched the match with the same score in the second spot.
  • Wu triumphed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at #3, while #6 Anna Lardner (6-2, 6-1) and #5 Farhat (6-4, 6-3) made it 7-0.
NOTES
  • Farhat claimed her team-leading eighth-consecutive win, while Van Wieran has earned seven straight and Raman is right behind with six.
  • Farhat and Raman also own a five-match unbeaten streak in doubles action.
  • Middlebury improves to 3-0 against Redlands, marking the first shutout triumph in the series.
The Panthers continue their busy week, traveling to #4 Pomona-Pitzer on Tuesday for a 1:00 p.m. ET match.
