Middlebury Quartet Breaks School Record In 4x800 Relay

Cameron Miles was a member of the quartet that broke the school record.
The Panther men's track and field team competed at their own Middlebury Field & Track Meet this weekend. One school record was broken, while four members picked up personal bests in the non-team scoring event.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panther quartet of Lachlan Bishop, Will Lavey, Zach Utz and Cameron Miles combined for a time of 7:47.23 in the 4x800-meter relay. That time broke the previous school mark of 7:49.47 set during the 2017 Middlebury Winterfell.
  • Darnel Cineas grabbed runner-up honors in the weight throw, recording a personal best launch 15.04m. Dan Urchuk tallied bronze with his fourth toss of 15.02m.
  • In the quickest event of the day, Donnell Harvey Jr. won the 60 dash with a time of 6.90 seconds, tying the school record that was set last season. 
  • Emerson Kington won the 400 with a time of 49.75 seconds, which was a personal record.
  • Earning runner-up honors was Joey Caspar, clocking in at 1:23.78 in the 600 which was a personal best.
  • The Panthers grabbed the top two spots in the 200 as Harvey Jr. finished in first (23.34), while Nate Gardner was the runner-up (23.55).
  • Middlebury swept the top three in the 800. Ziggy Goddard crossed the finish line first (1:57.26), followed by Drew Donahue in second (1:58.58), and Solomon McDow in third (2:00.44)
  • The team of Gardner, Kington, Hayden Bobowick and Joey Caspar picked up a first place finish in the 4x400 relay with a clocking of 3:29.70.
  • Henry Ericson tallied first place in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.45m. Caleb Smith picked up his season best at 4.15m in the runner-up spot.
  • The Panthers also grabbed the top two places of the shot put. Urchuk launched the implement 14.73m to earn gold, while Logan Cosgrove picked up second (13.91m). 
Middlebury travels to Massachusetts next weekend to compete in the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
