#16 Middlebury Downed By #3 Harvard

Abby Holding played in her 65th match as a Panther.

The #16 Middlebury women's squash team faced its toughest opponent yet of the season, falling 9-0 to #3 Harvard on Wednesday in Cambridge, Mass.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Crimson raced out to a 3-0 lead with victories at #3, #4 and #7, respectively.
  • Harvard grabbed a point in the first spot before clinching the match with a sweep at the sixth position.
  • With triumphs at #8, #2 and #5, the hosts pushed their advantage to 8-0.
  • Lucy Ronda battled in the final match in the nine slot, falling in three games to Ella Galova.

NOTES

  • Abby Holding played in her team-leading 65th career match.
  • The Panthers and Harvard faced off for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

Middlebury travels to Connecticut for the NESCAC Championship this weekend. The fifth-seeded Panthers take on fourth-seeded/#14 Williams in quarterfinal action on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
