2025 Men's Lacrosse Season Preview

The ninth-ranked Middlebury men’s lacrosse team kicks off its season when the Panthers head to Massachusetts on Saturday, March 1 to face #16 Amherst at 2:00 p.m. Middlebury looks to build off last spring that saw them reach the NCAA Quarterfinals for the third-consecutive campaign. The Panthers return a solid nucleus while adding 14 first-year players.

Middlebury returns a majority of its defensive unit, led by goalie Hayden Kern. Last season, he started all 21 contests, logging over 1,235 minutes while recording the third-best goals against average (GAA) in the NESCAC (10.01). 

The duo of Teddy Curran and Henry Tarr come back for the blue and white. Curran led the team in caused turnovers (32) and scooped up 28 ground balls, while Tarr was an All-NESCAC Second Team selection a year ago, scooping up 34 ground balls and garnering 26 caused turnovers.

Patrick Jamin and Cooper DeMallie headline the midfield. Jamin found the back of the net 19 times and dished out the second-most assists on the squad with 30. The Panther tallied four goals and six assists in the NCAA Tournament during the squad’s run to the quarterfinals. DeMallie looks to build off a sophomore season that included 16 points (14G, 2A).

Middlebury’s attack brings back two key pieces in Billy Curtis and Russell Thorndike. A USILA All-American Honorable Mention recipient, Curtis led the squad in assists (34) for the third-consecutive campaign and set a program record for most helpers in a game with seven against Bates. Thorndike paced the Panthers in points (63) and goals (49) while tallying 11 instances of three goals or more. Seven of those came in the team’s final 10 contests.
