Panther Ski Teams Compete At EISA Championship

Sofia Scirica finished fourth and 15th over the weekend.
The Middlebury alpine and nordic ski teams finished in fourth place with 734 points at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championship. Dartmouth, who remained unbeaten through carnival season, claimed the title with 982 points. The University of Vermont earned runner-up honors (792 points), while host University of New Hampshire was third (750 points). Logan Moore highlighted the weekend for Middlebury, finishing as the runner-up in both nordic events.
 
WOMEN'S NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS
  • Pacing the Panthers on Friday was Shea Brams, placing sixth in the individual with a clocking of 22:15.60.
  • Just two spots back was Maggie Wagner, finishing with a time of 22:20.4.
  • Rounding out the point-getters was Sofia Scirica in 15th place (22:43.6).
  • Just four seconds separated the top-six spots in the mass start, with Scirica leading the way with a fourth-place finish in 39:22.5. 
  • Brams was two spots back with a time of 39:41.4, while Wagner finished in eighth (39:41.6) as the squad claimed the event title.
MEN'S NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers dominated the individual on Friday, with Logan Moore and Jack Christner placing second and third, respectively. Moore clocked in at 19:37.0 to earn runner-up laurels, while Christner crossed the finish line in 19:41.8.
  • Mason Wheeler was the final scorer for Middlebury, placing 10th with a time of 20:19.3.
  • Moore earned runner-up honors for the second time in as many days, completing the mass start course with a time of 35:03.4 on Saturday.
  • Peter Warner placed 10th with a clocking of 35:34.8, while Christner was 15th (35:55.0).  
WOMEN'S ALPINE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Mika-Anne Reha led the way in the giant slalom (GS), placing 16th with a combined clocking of 2:19.93.
  • Next was Henriette Borgia in 24th with a two-run time of 2:21.43, followed by Sophia Tozzi in 27th place (2:21.78).
  • Reha paced the pack again on Saturday, finishing in eighth with a combined time of 1:36.8 in the slalom.
  • The second scorer was Sara Paradis, who placed 16th (1:38.41), while Borgia was 37th (1:44.22).
MEN'S ALPINE HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers came out strong on opening day, with Bradshaw Underhill finishing as the runner-up in the GS. He combined for a time of 2:13.34 to earn a spot on the podium.
  • Nicholas Unkovskoy placed sixth, completing his two trips down the mountain in 2:14.44, while Axel Bailey was 12th (2:15.19).
  • On Saturday, the slalom was held in tough conditions with dozens of skiers not finishing their runs. Dominic Shackleton paced the Middlebury group with an 11th-place finish (1:29.45), while Nico Richeda was 18th (1:29.97).
NOTES
  • The Panthers won the women's mass start and finished as the runner-up in the other three nordic events, while finishing second in the women's GS.
  • Dartmouth upset UVM as the Catamounts had won five-consecutive titles.
Middlebury awaits its fate at the NCAA Championship when the field is announced on Tuesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m.
