Abby Holding played her final home match as a Panther.
The #16 Middlebury women's squash program dropped a 7-2 decision to #12 Dartmouth in its regular-season finale. Prior to the match, the Panthers honored senior Abby Holding.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Big Green grabbed a 2-0 edge with back-to-back 3-0 decisions from the #9 and #3 slots.
- Mariana Reedich dropped the first two games at #5 but rallied with 14-12 and 11-9 victories to send her match against Zayna Usman to a decisive fifth. Reedich claimed the reverse sweep with a hard-fought 11-9 win in the final game to put the Panthers within one.
- Dartmouth claimed two out of the next three matches from the middle of the ladder to take a 4-2 advantage. The Panther's victory in the stretch came in a sweep (13-11, 11-5, 11-8) for Madeline Schwarz over Aubrey Lennon at #7.Â
- The Big Green clinched the match minutes later with a 3-0 triumph from the eighth position.
- In her final home match, Holding grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the second slot against Eleanor Clifford but could not hold on, as Clifford claimed the final two for a five-game victory.
- Dartmouth closed the match with a 3-1 triumph at #4.
NOTES
- Reedich earned her 13th triumph of the season while pushing her career record to 30-5.
- In her exhibition match, Caroline Didden grabbed a five-game victory (11-7, 11-5, 8-11, 3-11, 11-6) over Mary Wood.
- Middlebury and Dartmouth squared off for the 39th time.
The Panthers set their sights on the College Squash Association Championships with draws scheduled to be released early next week.Â
