The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team fell behind 3-0 early and could not overcome the deficit as #13 Amherst claimed a 6-3 victory.
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• The Mammoths claimed matches at #4 (3-0), #7 (3-1) and #3 (3-2) to begin the match.
• Madeline Schwarz put the Panthers on the board, claiming a three-game sweep (11-6, 11-6, 11-8) in the sixth position.
• Amherst's Tanmai Pathak earned a 3-1 win at the top of the ladder to increase the team's lead to 4-1, but Lucy Ronda snagged a point for Middlebury with a 3-1 triumph at #8.
• A 3-0 win at #5 secured the match for the Mammoths.
• The final pair of contests came down to a decisive fifth game, with Abby Holding edging her opponent at #2 before Amherst's Clara Dawn triumphed 3-2 in the ninth slot for the 6-3 final score.

NOTES

• The teams played for the 59th time with Middlebury owning a 36-23 mark in the series.

The Panthers travel to Harvard on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. start.
