#18 Men’s Squash Upends #15 Amherst 7-2

Nathan Feinstein tallied a four-game win at the #1 spot on Saturday.
The #18 Middlebury men's squash team claimed the first six points and never looked back, easing to a 7-2 victory on Saturday over #15 Amherst.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Gabe Feinstein started the run for the Panthers, posting a 3-0 sweep at #4 over Flynn Venmore by scores of 11-2, 11-2 and 11-9.
  • Middlebury continued its winning ways with Charlie Clifford (#7), Kian Kardestuncer (#3), Theo Kogan (#6) and Nathan Feinstein (#1) claiming consecutive 3-1 victories to put the lead to 5-0.
  • The advantage grew to 6-0 when Aditya Kothari edged Graeme Herbert in a tightly-contested match (11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 12-10) in the eighth slot.
  • The Mammoths got on the scoreboard with a one-hour and three-minute match in the middle of the ladder that went to five games.
  • Knotted at a game apiece in the #2 spot, Will Lichstein claimed the third and fourth games to clinch a victory (12-10, 7-11, 13-11, 11-8) against Zi Tao Yu for a 7-1 advantage.
  • Amherst wrapped up the scoring in the ninth slot in a five-game thriller for the final 7-2 decision.
NOTES
  • Feinstein and Clifford collected their 20th career victories on Saturday, while Kardestuncer secured his 30th.
  • The programs squared off for the 25th time with Middlebury holding a 22-3 advantage in the all-time series.
The Panthers hit the road for the final time in the regular season when they battle Harvard on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
