MacLean, Palmer Garner USTFCCCA All-American Laurels

Audrey MacLean and Claire Palmer paced the #9 Middlebury women's cross country team's efforts at the 2025 NCAA Championship.
Following stellar showings in the weekend's NCAA Championship, Audrey MacLean and Claire Palmer of the ninth-ranked Middlebury women's cross country team were recognized as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Americans. The pair became the 42nd and 43rd runners in program history to garner All-American praise.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • MacLean
    • Entering the race as the individual NESCAC and NCAA Mideast Regional champion, MacLean paced the pack once again on the national stage. The Panther pulled ahead after the initial kilometer and led for the remainder of the race, finishing with a career-best clocking of 20:16.8 to claim the individual championship
    • The Panther joins Middlebury Athletics Hall of Famer Dorcas Denhartog '87 as the second runner in program history to cross the finish line first in the national meet.
    • Her time was 54 seconds faster than her time of 21:10.8 at the 2024 Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
    • MacLean is just the fourth Panther in team history to earn three All-American nods. Including her track and field efforts, the junior has collected seven such accolades early in her third year with Middlebury.
  • Palmer
    • Palmer received All-American honors after placing 23rd in the national invite. The rookie's time of 21:38.3 ranked third among all first-year runners in the event.
    • In her initial campaign, Palmer secured all-region recognition with her sixth-place effort at the regional meet.
    • The runner claimed four top-three finishes throughout the season, including her initial collegiate victory at the Silloway Maple Syrup Challenge to begin the campaign.
    • She is the first Panther since MacLean to be named an All-American in her rookie season with the navy and white.
The Panthers conclude a strong campaign after winning three invites and finishing second in the NESCAC and NCAA Mideast Regional Championships.
