Grace Nadecki swam the final leg of Middlebury's 200 medley relay victory and had two individual podium placings.
The #21 Middlebury women's swimming and diving team secured 15 podium finishes in a 183-117 loss to #16 Amherst on Saturday from the Natatorium. The Panthers had six event triumphs in the meet.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury started the meet strong in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Anna McGrew, Emma Hall, Mia Cuiffo and Grace Nadecki combined for a clocking of 1:48.02 to claim the top spot.
- McGrew tallied two individual victories in the home opener, stopping the clock at 52:46 in the 100 free before touching the wall first with a time of 58.39 in the 100 back.
- Hall claimed both breast events to continue her hot start to the season. The senior captain clocked a 1:06.45 in the 100 and 1:45.55 in the 150.
- Closing out the victors for Middlebury was Avery Dollard. The rookie took the lead after the first split and never looked back, claiming the 150 fly with a time of 1:32.97.
- Ciuffo swam to a pair of runner-up finishes in the 50 free (25.22) and 100 fly (58.78).
- Sage Huddleston and Hannah Baumgartner capped the individual second-place finishes. Huddleston touched the wall in 1:37.43 in the 150 back, while Baumgartner finished in 8:33.74 during the 800 free.
- In the final event of the day, the 400 free relay squad of Baumgartner, Cuiffo, Lauren Jolley and McGrew grabbed silver with a combined time of 3:39.67.
- Other podium finishes included two from Nadecki in the 150 free (1:27.63) and 200 individual medley (2:14.62), Baumgartner in the 300 free (3:04.00), and the quartet of Ella Callahan, Huddleston, Lauren Lin and Isla Johnston during the 400 free relay (3:43.62).
NOTES
- Hall and McGrew grabbed two individual event victories for the second consecutive meet.
- Dollard earned her second event triumph as a Panther.
Middlebury is idle for two weeks before returning to the pool for the MIT Invitational hosted by the Engineers. The three-day event kicks off on Friday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m.
