Ethan Sholk was the lone first-year Panther to crack the scoring five in Saturday's NCAA Championship.
The #22 Middlebury men's cross country team placed 21st out of 32 teams at Saturday's NCAA Division III Championships. Wisconsin-La Crosse defended its national title with 82 points, while SUNY Geneseo placed second (132 points) and Wartburg trailed in third by just one point (133 points).

HIGHLIGHTS
- Owen Johnson was the first Panther to cross the line, placing 61st with a clocking of 24:56.9. The senior soared up 58 spots, including 21 in the final kilometer, to pace the squad.
- Cameron Miles was the next to cross for Middlebury, finishing with a time of 25:32.1 to place 127th.
- The next Panther finisher was Benjamin Hughes, who climbed 27 spots in the final split to take 140th at 25:37.5.
- In his introduction to the national stage, Ethan Sholk clocked in at 25:50.2 to finish 177th on the leaderboard.
- Zach Utz rounded out the Middlebury five, chasing down 53 bibs in the back half of the course to record a time of 26:03.3.
- Nathan Szubin and Harry Griff completed the lineup, placing 275th (27:04.7) and 287th (27:25.1), respectively.
NOTES
- The Panthers made their 15th appearance in the national race.
