17th-Ranked Men’s Squash Cruises Past Hobart

David Zhao earned a sweep at the top of the ladder.

The #17 Middlebury men's squash team earned its first victory of the 2025-26 campaign with a 9-0 sweep of Hobart on Friday evening from the Bostwick Family Squash Center. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • All nine results and the exhibition match were 3-0 results in favor of the Panthers.
  • In the top three spots of the ladder, David Zhao and Caleb Boateng each cruised in their matches at #1 and #3, respectively. Theo Kogan earned his triumph via default over Caio Paiva.
  • Kian Kardestuncer dropped just eight points in his 11-1, 11-3, 11-4 win in the sixth slot against Jayden Saldana.
  • The closest match came at #5, as Nico Brown grinded out an 11-9, 11-8, 11-4 result over Gabriel Garcia. 

NOTES

  • Charlie Clifford claimed his exhibition match in three games (11-1, 11-1, 11-2).
  • The programs met for the eighth time with the Panthers tallying all eight decisions.
  • Middlebury's 9-0 sweep was the first against the Statesmen since the 2016-17 season.

The Panthers close the 2025 portion of their schedule against Wesleyan at 10:00 a.m.
