The #9 Middlebury women's cross country team finished as the NCAA Mideast Runner-Up as
Audrey MacLean claimed the individual crown to pace the squad. Top-ranked Williams won the team title (39 points), followed by the Panthers (96 points) and #12 Connecticut College in third (101 points).
HIGHLIGHTS
- MacLean broke the tape with a clocking of 21:21.6, over seven seconds ahead of the next runner. This marks the third-straight year that MacLean has placed in the top-three spots at the regional meet.
- Also earning a spot in the top-10 places was Claire Palmer, finishing with a time of 21:43.9.
- MK Cestaro picked off runners throughout the entire course, moving up 27 spots after the initial mile marker to place 18th (22:34.6).
- Climbing 20 spots after the second split, Shea Fajen settled into the pack to finish 28th with a clocking of 22:53.0.
- Grace Kaelber and Naomi Atwood battled down the final straightaway, finishing just one second apart. Kaelber grabbed the final scoring spot with a time of 23:07.6 (43rd), while Atwood was one spot behind.
NOTES
- MacLean was the runner-up as a rookie, and placed third a year ago at the regional meet.
MacLean and Palmer both earn a spot as individuals in the NCAA Championship, while the team awaits its fate when the field is announced on Sunday.
