Women’s Soccer Garners Five All-Conference Selections

The Panthers saw five players receive All-NESCAC recognition, the most for the program since 2018.
The #12 Middlebury women's soccer team saw five players earn All-NESCAC laurels this fall, the most for the program since the 2018 campaign. Stella Espinasse was tabbed for the conference's first team, while Wynne Braemer, Livia Davidson, Gigi Day and Roshann Purcell were revealed as second-team selections.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Espinasse (First Team)
    • Espinasse garners league honors for the first time in her career.
    • The Panther ranks second on the team with three assists.
    • The junior has started 15 of Middlebury's 17 matches and is one of four players to eclipse 1,300 minutes this season (1,317).
    • Espinasse becomes the 46th first-team honoree in the program's history.
  • Braemer (Second Team)
    • In her initial season as a Panther, Braemer earns an all-conference nod.
    • The rookie is second on the team with 1,330 minutes of action along the Middlebury backline.
    • Braemer features in a defensive unit that has posted 11 clean sheets and paces the NESCAC in shutout percentage (0.647).
    • The Panther appeared in 16 games, making the starting lineup in 15 of those outings.
  • Davidson (Second Team)
    • Davidson takes home the first all-league accolade of her career.
    • The senior goalkeeper leads the NESCAC in saves (62) and save percentage (0.912). The latter figure is the seventh-best among her Division III peers.
    • Davidson's goals against average (0.48) stands second in the conference and 25th nationally. She also shares a tie for third in the conference in shutouts (six) and shutouts per game (0.40).
    • The Panther appeared in 15 contests with 12 starts, conceding just six markers across 1,125 minutes in front of the net.
  • Day (Second Team)
    • In her penultimate campaign with Middlebury, Day garnered her second NESCAC honor. The junior was named the conference's co-rookie of the year and a second-team honoree in 2023.
    • The Panther ranks second on the squad with three goals, each of them being the game-winning variety. She sits in a fourth-place tie in the league in game-winning markers.
    • Day netted the initial goal in the season-opener against Plymouth State on September 2 before scoring the first of five against Vermont State Castleton five days later. Both of these markers were scored from the penalty spot.
    • Against conference foe Hamilton in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, Day tapped in the first goal of a 2-0 victory to help Middlebury advance to the final weekend.
  • Purcell (Second Team)
    • Purcell secures her first All-NESCAC team placement as a Panther.
    • The senior has been a staple in the Middlebury back line, accumulating 1,310 minutes as the lone Panther to start all 17 contests.
    • In addition to her contributions on the defensive end, Purcell has tallied one marker and one helper this fall.
    • Her assist came on the game-winning goal in the quarterfinal round.
Middlebury secured an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and hosting rights for the opening weekend, clashing with Westfield State on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex. A neutral tournament tilt between #15 University of Rochester and Hartford will follow at 1:30 p.m. The winners advance to Sunday's second round with a start time of 1:00 p.m.
