10th-Ranked Panthers Welcome Hamilton For NESCAC Quarters

The 10th-ranked Middlebury women's soccer team has earned the third seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers host a NESCAC Quarterfinal contest on Saturday, entertaining sixth-seeded Hamilton for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff from the Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex.
 
ABOUT MIDDLEBURY
  • Middlebury has appeared in 24 of 25 conference tournaments since its inception in 2000. 
  • The Panthers have earned 24 victories during the league's postseason event and advanced to the championship game eight times. 
  • The squad looks to advance to the championship match for the first time since 2021 and seeks its sixth conference championship.
  • Middlebury sits in the top five in the league in shots on goal with 114 and has found the back of the net 24 times.
  • Defensively, the Panthers have clamped down in conference action, sitting atop the league in fewest goals allowed with four and allowing just six total.
  • Middlebury is tied for the league lead and 15th in Division III with 10 shutouts.
PANTHERS TO WATCH
  • Olivia Colby and Mia Feldman have spearheaded the forward spot this fall. Colby has tallied two goals and posted a team-high five assists in 15 games, while Feldman has three markers and one helper. 
  • Patrolling the midfield for Middlebury has been Taya McClennen and Gigi Day. McClennen has tallied four markers, including a pair of the game-winning variety. Day has recorded a pair of golden goals and competed for 1,086 minutes. 
  • Tessa Broderick and Roshann Purcell have guided the defense. The duo has logged the most minutes among defenders with 1,206 and 1,154, respectively. Wynne Braemer and Mari Rode have also seen significant time on the backline.
  • Livia Davidson and Frankie Marston have split time in front of the net. Davidson leads her league peers in save percentage (.923) and ranks in the top-five spots nationally in that category. Her 0.38 goals against average (GAA) is second in the league and among the top 10 in Division III. Marston has recorded six saves in seven appearances in goal.
ABOUT HAMILTON
  • The Continentals make their 11th appearance in the NESCAC Tournament and are looking for their first conference title.
  • Hamilton has advanced to the semifinal round twice, with the most recent coming in 2021. 
  • The Continentals closed the regular season with an 8-4-3 overall record and a 5-4-1 mark in conference action. 
  • The team has been heating up recently, going unbeaten over its last five contests and outscoring opponents 10-3 during that stretch. Hamilton has seven different players who have found the back of the net this fall and 13 who have recorded at least one point.
CONTINENTALS TO WATCH
  • Isabel Harvey has been a consistent presence for opposing defenses, leading the team and sitting in a tie for eighth in the NESCAC with six tallies. Haley Cramer also has a double-digit point total, scoring five goals.
  • Aiding the output are Diana Baffor and Sarah Flood with two markers and a helper apiece, while Lila Sullivan and Kate Giglio are tied for the squad lead with three assists.
  • Giglio and Ava Chiappinelli have anchored the Hamilton backline. Each has played more than 1,140 minutes, while Abby Douglass has accumulated 997 minutes for the Continentals. 
  • Goalie Nieve Tonna has patrolled the Hamilton six-yard box for the majority of the fall. The senior has tallied 53 saves, a 1.04 GAA and a 7-4-1 record. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Middlebury and the Continentals will square off for the 26th matchup. The Panthers hold a 17-6-2 advantage in the all-time series.
  • The teams met in New York on September 6, with the Panthers earning a 1-0 victory.
  • Middlebury and Hamilton have battled once in the NESCAC Tournament. The Continentals claimed a narrow 1-0 decision in the 2017 quarterfinal round.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION Quarterfinals will occur at the top-four seeds on Saturday, November 1. The highest remaining seed will host the semifinals on Saturday, November 8 and the championship game on Sunday, November 9.
