#1 Women’s Ice Hockey Opens New Year With 4-2 Win At Endicott

The top-ranked Middlebury women's ice hockey team opened the New Year with a 4-2 win at Endicott. With the triumph, the Panthers tally their ninth-straight victory. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Gulls came out strong, scoring just over a minute into the game. Rivers Morris collected a pass from Teaghan Hall before finding nylon for the 1-0 edge.
  • Middlebury responded, tallying three-straight goals beginning at the 6:42 mark. Britt Nawrocki struck first on the power play before Jordan Hower found the back of the goal just over three minutes later to take a 2-1 advantage.
  • The third marker came with 13:53 expired in the first frame. Avery McInerny sent a pass to Kate Flynn on the edge of the left faceoff circle, who wristed a shot into the goal for the 3-0 lead.
  • With just over two minutes to go, Endicott answered with a power play goal from Lily Anderson, slicing the Panther advantage to one (3-2).
  • The Gulls outshot Middlebury 10-5 in the middle period, but netminder Sophia Will stood strong and denied all opportunities. 
  • The third period was balanced with neither team able to score, before the Gulls pulled goalie Lauren Ferrari with 1:34 left on the clock for the extra skater.
  • Raia Schluter collected a failed clearing attempt and sent a pass to Kylie Quinlan, whose one-timer bounced into the empty net for the 4-2 triumph. 
NOTES
  • The programs played for the second time this season and 13th overall with Middlebury improving to 11-0-2 in the series. The Panthers claimed the first meeting this season with a 4-1 triumph.
  • The Gulls are the only team to score more than one goal on Middlebury this season.
The Panthers continue their four-game road stretch on Saturday, traveling to Nichols for a 2:40 p.m. puck drop.
