#25 Panthers Ease Past Continentals, Fall To #7 Williams At Tri-Meet

Avery Maxwell was the runner-up during the 200 freestyle.
The 25th-ranked Middlebury women's swimming and diving team topped Hamilton 184.5-115.5 but fell to #7 Williams 212-88 on Saturday in a tri-meet hosted by the Ephs.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers secured two event victories during the meet. Chloe Katz won the 1,000-yard freestyle by 9.48 seconds with a clocking of 10:38.62.
  • A few events later, Anna McGrew claimed the title in the 50 free in 24.03 seconds.
  • Runner-up swims were tallied by McGrew during the 100 backstroke (58.86), Avery Maxwell during the 200 free (1:57.44) and Evelyn Buetow in the 100 butterfly (1:00.36).
  • Lauren Jolley finished just behind Buetow, collecting a podium finish with a time of 1:00.51.
  • The 200 free relay quartet of Jane Cary, Maxwell, Jolley and McGrew recorded the second-fastest time of 1:38.28, while the 200 medley relay team of Maddy Reid, Hall, Chloe Bautista and McGrew was third in 1:49.95.
  • Hall tallied a pair of podium spots individually, finishing third in the 50 (31.62) and 100 breaststroke events (1:08.49).
NOTES
  • Katz's victory was her ninth this winter and third coming in the 1,000 free 
  • McGrew secured her ninth triumph of the campaign with four happening during the 50 free.
The Panthers close the regular season next weekend, hosting the two-day Middlebury Invitational beginning on Friday. The program will celebrate Senior Day before action begins on Friday.
