HIGHLIGHTS
- The Mules jumped on the scoreboard with 3:15 expired in the opening period. Matthew MacDonald wrapped around the goal and sent a pass from behind that Bobby Landry one-timed inside the right pipe for the 1-0 edge.
- Middlebury wasted little time finding the equalizer, scoring just 1:48 later when Andrew Malatesta grabbed a loose puck outside the crease and shoveled it past netminder Cooper Rautenstrauch to make it 1-1.
- The Panthers took a 2-1 lead during a power play at the 13:08 mark. Christian Wood snagged the puck on a clearing attempt and rifled a shot toward the goal, before Jack Silverman batted the puck out of the air, one-timing it into the net.
- Colby did not go away, knotting the contest at two goals apiece just over three minutes later while skating with an extra player. Max O'Brien blasted a shot from the top of the circles that was tipped by Dhillon Wilde before Nick Stapleton redirected his bid inside the post.Â
- Middlebury came out of the break strong, scoring a pair of goals during the opening 2:16 of second-period action. Wyatt Pastor tucked the puck under the crossbar on a nifty spin-around pass from Silverman with 54 ticks off the clock to get things going. Ryan Pineault carried the puck into the zone with a head full of steam, dumping a pass backward to Max Noll who blasted hit shot over the left shoulder of Rautenstrauch for the 4-2 advantage.
- The Mules responded with 5:56 expired when Wyatt Schmidek slipped the puck past goalie Andrew Heinze.
- Colby struck again at the 15:31 mark when Connor Gallagher's hard shot from just inside the blue line found its way through traffic and into the net to make it 4-4 at the intermission.
- Middlebury struck again with 5:52 elapsed in the third frame when Revy Mack blasted his shot through the five-hole to take a 5-4 edge.
- The Panthers tacked on a final tally at the 15:40 mark. An initial wrap around attempt by Reece Brednich was thwarted by Rautenstrauch, but Brednich gathered the rebound, crossing the crease and depositing the puck on the weak side for the 6-4 triumph.
