#16 Women’s Squash Defeats #18 Bowdoin 8-1

Izzy Ronda defeated her opponent in five games.
The #16 Middlebury women's squash team defeated #18 Bowdoin 8-1 on Saturday.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Margaux Comai swept her opponent Mira Karande in the first match of the day in the eighth slot by scores of 11-7, 11-8, 11-5.
  • Minutes later, Mariana Reedich increased the Panther lead with a four-game win against Ameile Matuch at #6.
  • Down 2-1, Abby Holding came back to earn victories in the fourth and fifth games over Amanda Cowhey for a thrilling 11-6, 5-11, 6-11, 12-10, 12-10 decision in the second spot.
  • Abbie Peterson dropped the initial game against Elizabeth Kennedy at #9, but the Panther rebounded for a 3-1 victory (9-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-8) to put Middlebury ahead 4-0.
  • Lindsey Burnham swept Emma Kate Watts-Roy at #1 (11-4, 11-9, 11-6) to clinch the match for the Panthers.
  • Madeline Schwarz (#7), Aanvi Anand (#4) and Izzy Ronda (#5) all battled to five games with their respective opponents before picking up wins. 
  • The lone Polar Bear victory came in the third slot in five games for the final 8-1 tally.
NOTES
  • Comai and Reedich each tallied their 25th career victory in the Panther uniform. 
  • The programs squared off for the 50th time with Middlebury holding a 29-21 edge in the all-time series.
The Panthers finish their road weekend tomorrow when they face #17 Colby at 1:00 p.m.
