#17 Panthers Tally 7-2 Road Triumph Against #22 Polar Bears

David Zhao put together a reverse sweep from the nine position.

The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team continued its NESCAC road trip with a 7-2 triumph over Bowdoin on Saturday. The victory is the squad's seventh in the last eight matches.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Aditya Kothari gave the Panthers a 1-0 edge with his four-game victory over Ronak Nagar (11-7, 2-11, 11-5, 11-6) in the eighth spot.
  • Theo Kogan (#6) and Will Lichstein (#2) each split the first four games before tallying 11-9 and 11-4 results respectively to push Middlebury ahead 3-0.
  • Bowdoin countered by securing a 3-1 decision at #2 before David Zhao tallied a reverse sweep (3-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-9) of Sachith Vissapragada from the ninth slot of the ladder to put the Panthers on the doorstep of clinching the match.
  • Middlebury continued to surge on, as Charlie Clifford secured a shutout from the #7 spot to build a 5-2 advantage and seal the team's victory.
  • Caleb Boateng tallied a sweep from the fifth position and Kian Kardestuncer recorded a 3-1 decision in the third slot to clinch the 7-2 decision.

NOTES

  • Boateng earned his 20th career victory in Saturday's match.
  • Middlebury and Bowdoin met for the 24th time. The Panthers have claimed each of the last three matchups and hold a 19-5 advantage in the all-time series.

Middlebury closes out its three-match weekend with a battle at #20 Colby on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
