#16 Women’s Squash Falls to #13 Georgetown

Abby Holding battled in a five-set thriller on Saturday.

The #16 Middlebury women's squash team fell to 13th-ranked Georgetown by an 8-1 margin on Saturday in a contest hosted by Navy.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Hoyas grabbed a quick 4-0 edge with sweeps from the #4, #7, #1, and #3 spots, respectively.
  • Izzy Rhonda went back and forth against her opponent Ella Schoonmaker, falling in a five-set thriller (6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 10-12, 11-2) in the fifth slot as Georgetown clinched the match.
  • Abby Holding rallied from a 2-1 deficit to push her battle with Rachel Mashek to a decisive fifth. Mashek came out on top with an 11-3 victory in the final game to put the Hoyas a match away from the sweep.
  • The shutout was stopped by Mariana Reedich who swept Lindsay Lee (11-7, 11-9, 11-2) from the No. 6 spot to close the match.

NOTES

  • Reedich tallied her fifth-consecutive victory of the campaign.
  • Middlebury and Georgetown met for the fifth time.

The Panthers travel to Pennsylvania to face #24 Franklin and Marshall on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
