Massey-Bierman won the sprint on opening day.
The Middlebury ski teams opened the carnival season with a fourth-place showing at Bates over the weekend. Dartmouth claimed the title with five event victories, running away from the field with 956.5 points. The University of Vermont was second (781.5 points), followed by the University of New Hampshire (759.5 points) and the Panthers (718 points).
WOMEN'S NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS
- On the first day, Quincy Massey-Bierman finished first by nearly two seconds in the sprint final, clocking in at 2:54.86.
- Mica Bodkins also qualified for the final, claiming fifth with a time of 3:03.62.
- Rounding out the top-three for the Panthers was Sofia Scirica in 14th (2:55.92).
- In the individual on Saturday, Shea Brams paced the squad, landing a spot on the podium with a third-place nod (25:41.6).Â
- Also cracking the top-10 spots was Scirica, crossing the line in 26:31.0 for 10th place.
- Massey-Bierman was just four seconds behind Scirica for an 11th-place finish.Â
MEN'S NORDIC HIGHLIGHTS
- Logan Moore led the Panther pack for the sprint, crossing the finish line in 2:33.40 for 22nd place.
- Mason Wheeler (46th - 2:47.52) and Peter Warner (48th - 2:47.62) rounded out the scorers for Middlebury.
- On Saturday, Moore landed a spot on the podium, placing third with a time of 22:10.1 in the individual event.
- Warner finished in seventh with a clocking of 23 minutes flat, while Wheeler was 25th in 23:33.4.
MEN'S ALPINE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers started the weekend strong with the men claiming the giant slalom (GS) title. Bradshaw Underhill led the way, placing first with a combined time of 2:28.53.Â
- Nicholas Unkovskoy was three spots back, putting together a two-run clocking of a 2:29.24 to claim fourth..
- Rounding out the GS scorers on the men's side was Milan Novak, completing his two trips down the mountain in 2:30.26, good for 11th place.
- In the slalom, Underhill finished in a two-way tie for eighth place with a combined time of 1:44.27.
- Unkovskoy was right behind (1:44.52) to earn 11th place, while Novak was the third Panther with a two-run clocking of 1:45.06 for 16th.
WOMEN'S ALPINE HIGHLIGHTS
- In the GS on Friday, Sophia Tozzi paced the women with a 10th place finish, combing for 2:37.01.
- Sara Paradis finished in 16th (2:38.10) and Henriette Borgia placed 21st (2:38.81).Â
- Completing her two trips down the mountain in 1:47.64 was Mika-Anne Reha, pacing the Panthers in the slalom with a 10th-place showing.
- Tozzi placed 19th in the event (1:48.64), while Borgia combined for a time of 1:53.26 (41st).Â
NOTES
- The men's GS squad claimed the event with 121 points.Â
- The women's nordic team earned runner-up in the sprint (115 points) and the individual (103 points), while the men's side earned second in the individual with 100 points.
- The alpine and nordic teams combined for four podium finishes across eight events over the weekend.
The St. Lawrence Carnival begins on Thursday with alpine events, while nordic starts action on Friday.
