Bigelow Wins Pair of Events at Colby

Pierce Bigelow posted two individual wins.
The Middlebury men's swimming and diving team fell to Colby on Saturday 163-135. The Panthers tallied three individual event victories, including a pair from Pierce Bigelow. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Bigelow posted a winning time of 9:55.48 in the 1000-yard freestyle, and clocked in at 4:47.84 to claim the 500 free.
  • On the diving boards, Owen White claimed the 3-meter title with a final score of 237.15 points. White grabbed a final score of 187.80 points off the 1-meter board to claim the runner-up spot. 
  • Will Sonne earned second place in the 500 free, finishing just behind Bigelow in 4:51.42.
  • Middlebury grabbed the top-two spots in the 50 breaststroke. John Masiello placed first (27.29), while James Thomas was right behind in 27.30 seconds.
  • The Panthers recorded the runners-up spot in the 200 medley relay. The team of Jack Undercofler, Thomas, Ben Bryan and Prin Chantarangkul combined for a clocking of 1:35.04. 
  • Garnering silver in the 200 free was Matthew Hensel, touching the wall in 1:45.55.
  • Andrew Dou collected a pair of second-place finishes in the butterfly events, clocking in at 23.68 in the 50 and 52.13 in the 100. 
NOTES
  • White grabbed the 1-meter diving title for the second straight time this season.
The Panthers are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Bates for an 11:00 a.m. start.
