The Middlebury men's ice hockey went back and forth with 12th-ranked Trinity, falling 4-2 on Friday evening from Chip Kenyon '85 Arena.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers cashed in on their first opportunity with 15:35 remaining in the opening period. Kevin Golden sent the puck around the boards to Jackson Morehouse, who launched a pass that looked to bounce off a Bantam skate. Revy Mack raced down the ice and snuck a shot past Trinity goaltender Devon Bobak on the left post for a 1-0 lead.Â
- Trinity answered with a goal nearly two minutes later. Alexander Mozian took a bounce off the boards from James Barbour and laced a shot past netminder Andrew Heinze to tie the game at one.
- The Bantams kept up the pressure, almost scoring at the 12:00 mark. Ryan Panico skated behind the goal and tried to stuff the puck inside the left post. Heinze was in the right place and blocked the bid away.
- Weston Turner nearly put the visitors ahead with 4:24 remaining in the period. The defender hustled around the net and fired a backhanded shot that Heinze saved with his blocker.Â
- With 16:38 left in the second period, Bobby May blasted a shot that looked destined for the right side of the net, but the senior's attempt rang the pipe from the right point.
- Middlebury manufactured a great chance at the 7:53 mark. Andrew Seaman raced down the right wing and slid a bid that Bobak smothered to keep the game tied.Â
- The Panthers took the lead with 12:18 left in the third on the power play. May collected a pass and wristed a shot that bounced off Bobak's chest. Dante Palombo got to the puck first and sailed it over the Bantam goalie's right shoulder for a 2-1 edge.Â
- Trinity knotted the contest almost four minutes later. Ty Broad lifted a shot that bounced off the bar and caromed just outside the crease. Chase McInnis tapped the loose puck past a sprawled-out Heinze to deadlock the contest at 2-2.
- The Bantams tallied their first lead with 3:30 remaining. Korona sailed up the ice with a head of steam and found Barbour, who wiggled through a small crease near the left post and muscled in a bid for a 3-2 advantage.Â
- Trinity added an empty-net goal with 16 seconds left in regulation to seal the 4-2 win.
