#21 Panthers Claim Annual Aldrich Invitational Title

Benjamin Hughes paced Saturday's field with a victorious time of 26:34.9.
The #21 Middlebury men's cross country team earned its fourth-consecutive Aldrich Invitational title, amassing 15 points. The Panthers finished with six runners in the top-10 spots to retain the crown. Clarkson finished in second (54 points), while Plattsburgh State rounded out the podium with 66 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The top-four runners for Middlebury cracked 27 minutes. Benjamin Hughes led the way, breaking the tape with a winning time of 26:34.9.
  • Less than 10 seconds behind in second place was Drew Donahue (26:44.6), while Shef West finished in third (26:47.8). 
  • Ziggy Goddard crossed the line in fourth, clocking a time of 26:59.3.
  • Rounding out the scorers was Harry Griff, crossing the line in 27:10.3.
  • Benjamin Prestes concluded his first collegiate run with a ninth-place effort of 28:13.2.
NOTES
  • Started in 2011, the invitational was named after Middlebury Hall of Famer Terry Aldrich. He served as the head men's and women's cross country coach from 1975-2010 and has been the starter for the annual meet.
  • The men's program has won the last four Aldrich Invitational team titles and claimed 11 of the last 12 since being renamed in 2011.
The Panthers travel to St. Lawrence on Saturday for the Hoffmann Invitational with a scheduled start of 12:00 p.m.
