#10 Women’s Tennis Shuts Out TCNJ 5-0 In NCAA Tournament Action

The #10 Middlebury women's tennis team shut out The College of New Jersey 5-0 in NCAA Tournament action on Saturday, advancing to the regional final. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Doubles duo Nathalie van der Reis and Lulu Wu got out to a quick start and never looked back, blanking their opponents 8-0.
  • The top tandem of Amy Delman and Sahana Raman came back from a 5-4 deficit, claiming four-straight games to earn an 8-5 victory. 
  • The #2 doubles match was a back-and-forth affair. Gena Huang and Claudia Miller maintained a one-game edge, before winning two straight for a 7-5 victory, putting Middlebury up 3-0.
  • Van der Reis carried her momentum into singles action, claiming each set in the fifth spot by 6-1 scorelines to increase the Panther lead to 4-0.
  • At #4, Delman was victorious 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the match for Middlebury.
  • Raman, Miller, Wu and Charlotte McCann each triumphed in their opening sets before the contest concluded. 
NOTES
  • This marked the fourth meeting between the Lions and the Panthers with Middlebury owning a 4-0 mark. Three of the contests in the series have come during the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers take on #11 Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the NCAA Regional Final on Sunday at 12:00 p.m., with a trip to the final site of competition on the line.
