Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season At Bill Detrick Invitational

Henry Harrison led the Panthers in a tie for 17th place.

The Middlebury men's golf team returned to the links this weekend to start its spring season. The Panthers placed seventh out of 15 teams at Trinity's Bill Detrick Invitational. The host Bantams won the event with a two-day score of 585, followed by Hartford (589), Bowdoin (590) and Babson (590). Middlebury finished with a combined score of 601.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • On the opening day of the invitational, Henry Harrison led Middlebury with a two over par score of 72. He notched three birdies to highlight the day. Harrison followed that up with a 76 on Sunday, finishing in a four-way tie for 17th place with a two-day total of 148.
  • Colin McCaigue was right behind Harrison on day one (73) and tied for 21st place overall with a score of 149. Over the weekend, McCaigue posted three birdies. 
  • The next golfers for Middlebury were Brendan Maykel and Charlie Schulman. Maykel bettered his first-round score by six strokes during Sunday's final round, finishing in a tie for 23rd with a total of 150 (78-72). Schulman's top score came on Saturday (76). He recorded a pair of birdies and tallied a two-day output of 155 to finish in a deadlock for 50th. \
  • Tucker Lamb rounded out the scorers, firing a birdie on the par-four seventh hole on Saturday, to post a combined total of 157 (79-78) to tie for 58th.

The Panthers return to competition next Saturday and Sunday when they play in the Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore.
