Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season With Fifth Place Finish At SUNY Cortland

Sophia Hwang led the Panthers with a 74 to finish in a tie for fifth.

The Middlebury women's golf team began the spring portion of its schedule by finishing fifth at the SUNY Cortland Martin/Wallace Invitational with a team total of 309. Williams won the event with a score of 297, while New York University placed second with a total of 302 and Amherst was third (303). The invitational was condensed to just one 18-hole round after Saturday was canceled due to inclement weather.

  • Sophia Hwang paced the Panthers, firing a 74 to finish in a tie for fifth place.
  • Also securing a spot in the top-10 was Audrey Tir who carded a 75 and earned a ninth-place showing.
  • Morgan Lee was next for Middlebury, finishing in a tie for 21st with a 78.
  • Rounding out the scorers were Ella Han (82) and Jacqueline Slinkard (85), who placed 30th and 41st, respectively. 

NOTES

  • Mia Politano led the Panther "B" team, carding a 78 en route to a tie for 21st.

Middlebury returns to the links on Saturday when it travels to Amherst to take part in the two-day Jack Leaman Invitational.
