The Middlebury alpine squad kicked off the 2024 NCAA Championship with the giant slalom at Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The Panthers sit in 12th place after the first day of competition, garnering 33 points. Utah is perched atop the leaderboard with 154.5 points, followed by the host school, Colorado (137.5 points) and Denver (133 points).
HIGHLIGHTS
- Charlie Lang moved up four spots from his first run to finish 23rd overall with a combined time of 1:47.29.
- Recording the 12th-fastest first-run time was Bradshaw Underhill (52.36), placing 31st (1:48.42).
- On the women's side, Alexandra Cossette had the 10th-quickest time on the second run, finishing her two trips down the mountain in 1:57.63 to earn 14th place.
- Mika-Anne Reha placed 24th with a combined clocking of 1:58.64.
- Closing out the scorers for Middlebury was Katie Fynn, moving up two spots from the first trip to finish in 30th (2:01.07).
The nordic squad competes on Thursday, with the 7.5K freestyle races at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Mountain Time (MT). The alpine team is back in action on Friday under the lights, with the first slalom run beginning at 6:40 p.m. MT.
