Chloe Katz of the #21 Middlebury women's swimming and diving team capped her NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in style on Saturday, finishing in ninth place during the 1,650-yard freestyle to earn Second-Team All-American honors.Â

HIGHLIGHTS
- Seeded 12th nationally entering the meet in the 1,650 free, Katz swam in the fastest heat during the morning preliminaries. She was just over seven seconds behind the leader, New York University's Caitlin Marshall, at the 1,000 split. The trio increased their pace in the final stages of the race, as Katz finished third in the heat with a time of 16:59.96.Â
- The fatests seeded heat took place in the evening session, with the morning times being compared to the final heat. The Panther narrowly missed the podium by six seconds and garnered Second-Team All-American honors with the ninth quickest time overall.
NOTES
- Katz's time was just above her personal-best clocking of 16:59.41 that she established during the NESCAC Championships a few weeks ago.
- Bengisu Caymaz of Kenyon won the national title in Saturday's event, touching the wall with a winning time of 16:34.67.
- On Wednesday, Katz earned her first career All-American honor with a seventh-place finish in the 500 free with a clocking of 4:55.79. She also competed on Thursday in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:52.59 for 28th place.
- The Panther swimmer totaled 21 team points with a pair of top-10 finishes, helping Middlebury to 26th place among 40 scoring teams.
- The four-day event was hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Katz had a phenomenal junior campaign, winning 10 individual titles during dual meets in the freestyle events. She also earned All-NESCAC honors with third-place finishes in the 1,000 (10:09.42) and 1,650 free (16:59.41) events.
