The Middlebury baseball team fell behind early and could not recover, falling 14-11 to Plattsburgh State.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Kyle Cremlin got things going for the Cardinals in the top of the first inning, doubling down the right-field line to bring home Mike Rasquin. A single to deep left by Justice Suafoa brought in a pair of runs, before scoring himself on a single through the left side by Adam Wein for the 4-0 advantage.
- The Panthers got two runs back in their half of the frame to make it 4-2. Mitchell Schroeder belted a double into left field to score Beau Root, before later crossing home plate on a double from Lucas Flemming.
- Middlebury cut the deficit down to one (4-3) in the second when Baker Angstman scampered home on a sacrifice fly by Gus Parker.
- In the top of the third, Suafoa reached on an error, before touching the plate on a double by Aidan Diltz. A base hit to center by Wein on the next play drove in Diltz to make it 6-3.
- Plattsburgh State exploded for five runs in the fourth inning, sparked by a two-run homer from Alex Kornblau, to bring the advantage to 11-3.Â
- Middlebury scored a run in the fourth and the Cardinals tallied once in the fifth to make it 12-4.
- The Panthers continued to chip away at the Plattsburgh State lead, bringing the score to 12-6 during the fifth. Flemming tripled to drive in Sammy Smith, before touching home himself on a ground out.
- The Cardinals extended their lead to 14-6 in the bottom of the seventh when a walk by Suafoa brought in Mike Rasquin and Kornblau scampered home on a double play.Â
- Chris Borter blasted a two-run roundtripper in the eighth and Angstman scored on a groundout to close the gap to five (14-9).
- Middlebury continued its momentum in the final inning, scoring twice to make it 14-11, but Plattsburgh State was able to retire the side to secure the win.
NOTES
- Emmet George earned his first collegiate start on the mound.
- Flemming was 3-4 at the plate with a trio of runs, two RBI, a double and a triple, while Angstman was also 3-4 and scored twice, had one RBI and swiped three bases.Â
- The Panthers and the Cardinals met for the 16th time and first since 2019, with Middlebruy leading the series 11-5.

The Panthers hit the road next weekend, traveling to Florida for spring break where they will play seven games during the trip.
