Andrew Johnson will be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame
Middlebury's Terry L. Aldrich Head Coach of Nordic Skiing Andrew Johnson has been selected as one of inductees for the 2024 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. Johnson has been the Panther head coach since 2013.

On the trails while competing, Johnson raced to the 1996 United States Junior National Championship in cross country skiing. After joining the Middlebury nordic program, he was a three All-American (1997, 1998, 1999). Johnson was a member of the United States Ski Team from 1999-2007. He is a two-time Olympian, competing in the Salt Lake City games in 2002 and four years later in Torino, Italy. Johnson is a two-time United States National Champion in cross country skiing (2005, 2006) and a three-time Nordic World Ski Championships competitor (2003, 2005, 2007).

Johnson began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of Utah from 2008 to 2010 where he also earned his bachelor's degree in environmental studies. He returned to the eastern portion of the country and took an assistant coaching position at the University of Vermont for three seasons (2010-13), helping guide the Catamounts to the 2012 NCAA Championship.

Since taking over the reins in 2013, Johnson has been selected twice as the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Coach of the Year (2018, 2023). He has coached six All-Americans as well as one Olympian. Johnson's squads have posted three carnival team wins during his tenure.

Johnson is the fifth Middlebury College student-athlete to be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame joining Ann Battelle, Lea Davison, Ray Fisher and Phil Latreille. Also inducted are former Middlebury College coaches/administrators Bill Beaney, Missy Foote and Tom Lawson.

Johnson and the other honorees will be formally inducted at the 2024 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration presented by Myers Waste at the Delta Marriott Burlington Hotel on Williston Road in South Burlington on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
